The birds of winter as seen by Martin Pierce

Did you survive the wrath of winter storm Jonas this past weekend?  It is hard for those of us who live in southern California to comprehend a storm like that but I must admit the photographs are beautiful!

While we are subject to the strange weather conditions that El Nino is bringing, we are still able to enjoy some of mother nature's winged creatures.  Over the years Martin has been inspired by many of the birds we see in and around our neighborhood as well as those we spot on the hikes we so enjoy.  For example:

You may be aware of the unique phenomena of the swallows returning to Mission San Juan Capistrano every year at the same time.  No one has quite figured out why this gathering takes place but these little birds inspired our swallow pull.

One of our new products for 2015 was this stunning bronze sculpture modeled after a Jay.

Many years ago Martin created this beautiful bespoke lectern in the shape of a Heron.  While this old photo does not do it justice, as always, the detailing is exquisite.

With spring just around the corner we look forward to spotting more birds in the parks and in our own backyard which just may inspire some new hardware designs.
