Martin Pierce Furnishings was founded in 1994 by Martin and Anne Pierce. The company specializes in original hand crafted furniture which they make at their studio in Los Angeles and are available to the trade through design professionals. Their organic furniture and transitional styles include Hedgerow, Seicho, Ascot and Rickshaw. Their work is comprehensive and includes dining tables and chairs, armoires and other case goods, beds, screens and lamps.
Many of their case good pieces employ the japanning technique and all of these pieces are signed and form part of a numbered limited edition. The japanned pieces were all inspired by nature and use as their decorative themes vine leaves and aspen and sycamore trees. Many of the Hedgerow and Ascot pieces are also characterized by a hand hewn chisel detail which is a signature statement of Martin Pierce and which adds a textural dimension to their work. Martin Pierce mainly uses American grown kiln dried superior walnut for his pieces with accents in English brown oak and myrtle burl veneer.
