Toy Chest

The story portrayed through the technique of Japanning on the sides of the Toy Chest became the inspiration for a subsequent story. In the toy chest the story told through deer’s, bears, squirrels, and birds is a playful one of parading animals in an endless walk around the hidden treasures inside the toy chest. This is a forest scene with a tree canopy that opens to the sky where swallows in bronze and gold leaf fly to view the parade.

Many years later a story has begun to take shape with Martin Pierce’s collection of larger-than-life insects who in the fictional world of Katydom compete in the insect Race.
