Bronze & Steel Sculpture
The insect and humanoid sculptures are part of an evolving collection of limited editions that tell a story now documented in the short film “Katydom” directed by M. Ramirez-Adams and a finalist at the 2024 Culver City Film Festival.
In this fictional world the scale of insects and humanoids has largely been reversed. The relationship between these organisms and the roles they occupy is in constant flux, thereby removing any social basis for one organisms dominance over another. Each species experiences substantial height and breadth variations amongst it’s members rendering these attributes obsolete as a means of determining hierarchical rank. The habitat for all is one of distorted mangroves, agaves and ficus connected by a fungal network. The forest floor is littered with leaves and bark shavings and the many shaped gourdes are hewn and re-purposed as dwellings.
Each piece is part of a limited edition of either 10 or 20 or 30 pieces.
